New Updated Employing Company Induction
The new updated version of the Standard Employing Company Induction (ECI) course was launched today on the Step Change in Safety website, www.ecistepchange.co.uk.
Completing an Employing Company Induction (ECI) is a mandatory requirement for all workers travelling offshore to UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) facilities for the first time. The Employing Company Induction is an important part of the common induction process and this Standard ECI course is used by most companies to ensure that messages are consistent. Completion of an ECI is recorded on the worker’s training record on VANTAGE.
A key element of the improved ECI is the greatly enhanced “tutor“ mode which enables tutors to readily deliver the course’s content in classroom scenarios quickly and more efficiently and they are now able to register and record groups directly at the time of providing the course. The new version also features a number of additional enhancements including; multiple web browser support, easier access via a standard broadband internet connection, simplified methods of registration and certification not only for corporate users but also for the individual. The course has also been updated to comply with the latest safety best practice and new legislative requirements.
Russell Robertson of the Step Change Support Team said
" The upgraded web site based course will be welcomed by the industry, both for its ease of access and its new user friendly features. In 2006, we saw some 700 ECI completions registered with VANTAGE each month. As we continue to see high industry activity levels, it is imperative that we reinforce our safety messages and ensure that new hire employees have the best available basic induction. Making the UK the safest oil and gas region in the world by 2010 is the Step Change vision and all offshore workers have an important part to play in achieving this goal."
