Who Pays?

There are no costs involved in completing the online course registration of your company and your employees.

How do I access this on-line service?

What is the purpose of the ECI?

It is to remove once and for all the duplication of generic elements of industry inductions meaning that the workforce does not have to receive various inductions. Only the company specific elements will be given, 80% is common and covered by ECI and 20% is company specific.

Where do I get the ECI registration documents?

The registration form is available via the link on this web site (see useful information on the Getting Started page).

How do I register?

Print the registration form on the ECI website and e-mail, fax, post a copy to the address on the form.

How do I return the completed registration form?

You can fax (01224 787830), email cr@opito.com or post to (Minerva House Bruntland Road, Portlethen AB12 4QL) as long as there is a signature on the form.

What happens after registration form is submitted?

Opito will register your company, once registered Opito will e-mail you a template spreadsheet for your company representative to complete the data for all employees travelling offshore. The data we require from you is your employees Forename, Surname, Date of Birth, Place of Birth and Postal Address.

The spreadsheet is password protected can you take this off?

No.

I have someone going offshore tomorrow and need them registered ASAP what do I do?

If you have an urgent registration please ensure that the company registration form has been signed and returned and that along with the employees details you advise us in your e-mail that it is urgent and provide details of when they are going offshore. Please have this sent to cr@opito.com by 4.30pm to ensure that there is sufficient time for your company to be registered in Vantage.

Can I register my employees for the Risk Assessment & Manual Handling?

Opito do not register your employees for risk assessment and manual handling only the Employing Company Induction. Please contact Logic on 01224 853447 and they will be able to advise you of how to do this.

My company is not registered and I am travelling offshore tomorrow what do I do?

Your company representative should complete the registration form and return to Opito as soon as possible advising that this is an urgent registration. As soon as your company appears on the registered company's list on the site you can proceed and complete the online course.

What do I do with the completion code that is generated at the end of the course?

Opito do not need a note of the completion code, however you or your company representative should keep a record of it.

Is OPITO open at the weekends to update vantage?

No, OPITO's hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. If you have anyone to be registered please do so within these times.

We have a new employee started with us and is a regular traveller offshore does he need to complete the on-line course?

You can check with Opito to see if the person has already completed the ECI course, if they have then they do not have to complete it again, they would only require a company specific induction.

What is a tutor?
A tutor is a professional trainer who is responsible for group inductions within one of the listed organizations (see Registered Organisations for details). As a tutor you are taking responsibility for ensuring that each individual in the group has sufficient knowledge to ensure that they remain safe at the work location and return home unhurt.
What is a company representative?

A company representative is the employee responsible for an organisation's compliance with the requirements for the ECI programme. The company representative should ensure that their company is registered and that it continues to meet with the ECI programme requirements. The company representative will be notified by e-mail when an employee of an organisation successfully completes the ECI on-line course.

I want to complete the course myself but I also want to register as a Tutor for my company. Do I register as a normal user or do I register as a Tutor?

You must register first as a normal user and complete the ECI course. You can then re-register as a Tutor. When you enter your user name and password the site will recognise that you have already registered as a normal user and will ask you if you want to upgrade to a Tutor.

How Does OPITO Know I have Completed the Course?

OPITO have administration access to the ECI website and make regular periodic checks throughout the day for ECI completions. These are then immediately entered into the Vantage System.

How can I download QuickTime for Windows 2000?

If you have an older system - for example Windows 2000 - you can not use the latest version of QuickTime from Apple web site. If this is the case then you can download an earlier version such as 6.5.2.
